rose

i have never liked rose. this is the story of what happened when i stopped trying to love her and simply became curious.

what happens when we stay curious about what we do not yet love?

i have never liked rose.

which has always felt a little strange for someone who makes scents.

when i blend with rose, i usually reach for the smallest amount i can use.

just enough.

never more.

for years, i thought that was simply who i was.

someone who admired rose from a distance but never really wanted to carry her.

then i found myself wondering why.

rose has been loved for generations.

she appears in perfumes, skincare, gardens, and bouquets. people have returned to her again and again.

i have always respected that.

i just never understood it for myself.

until one day i realized i had never really met rose.

i had only met what everyone else said she should mean.

so i decided to begin somewhere more honest.

i don't naturally enjoy this scent.

and i want to know her anyway.

lately, i've been missing parts of myself.

my softness.

my femininity.

my beauty.

i don't know if rose has anything to do with that.

i only know that i keep finding my way back to her.

perhaps that is enough for now.

peace be with you.
